Love Somebody

β€œThe moment you are aware you can, and must, grow, you have felt the power of true love.”

Like so many areas, there exists a tension between wanting to be accepted exactly as we are and knowing all things must change, even us.

I believe that when we cling to being loved β€œas we are,” what we are really expressing is our fear that what we are is not enough. Often this is accompanied by inaccurately identifying our behaviors (what we do) as β€œwho we are.” Unquestionably, what we do - how we move through the world - broadcasts most visibly to the world who we are. As we have previously identified, no one can be in your head but you.

Therefore, it is important for you to look at your behaviors and see whether they align to your perception of yourself and your values. I believe that the friction we often experience is not a product of the behaviors themselves, but rather a misalignment between them and this internal understanding.

Some of us are very good at doing this reflection all on our own, but most of us will need the help of those around us to reflect back what they see. Taking feedback from trusted allies - though possibly difficult, especially if the topic is one fraught with current fears and past pains - can only accelerate your growth.

What’s a way you can choose to give or receive love today? Be well, beautiful people.
