Stay Positive
After almost a year away, I recently reactivated my Instagram account; I found I missed the visual inspiration of the artists I follow and the mental stimulation of the writers and philosophers I follow. As I am being far more intentional with how I move in that space this time (i.e. keeping my profile private), I will reshare the caption of my post (which goes with today’s thumbnail) from Saturday:
Dad and I before doing our first Polar Plunge. What started as an easy “yes!” because I am always down for a physical challenge morphed into something more. Six months ago, I don’t know that I could have worn the shirt our team picked - Dare to Be Yourself - with quite the same gusto. This picture is incredibly special to me because my father has always encouraged me to follow my bliss, even when I think he likely thought some of what I chased he would not understand. He saw my spirit (unbeknownst to me - calling me his “bohemian child”) long before I even knew the precise shape of all that I was and could be. I always knew I was a late bloomer, just did not anticipate it would take until I was 40. Take it from my smile: keep going. Life is a wild ride and you can burst forth when you least expect it.
